H amount of heat is produced by first heater in time t1 so we have

H=V2R1t1R1=V2t1H

Similarly, for second heater its resistance, R2=V2t2H

In series combination same heat is produced, H=(V2R1+R2)t

t=H(R1+R2)V2

Substituting the values of  R1  and  R2, we get, t=t1+t2

In parallel combination same heat is produced in time, H=V2Rnett
