Detailed Solution

When two lamps of ratings 100 W, 220 V and 200 W, 220 V are connected in parallel to the electric supply at 220 V then the current drawn by the two lamps is 1.36 A.
It is given that two lamps of ratings 100 W, 220 V and 200 W, 220 V are connected in parallel combination with the mains at 220 V.
Let the lamp with Power,
P=100 W and potential difference,
V=220 V be Lamp 1.
Let the lamp with Power,
(P)=200 W and potential difference,
   V=220 V be Lamp 2.
It is known that the power of the component is given by the relation
   P=VI
It can be written as
   I=PV
Where I, P and V are the current, power and potential difference respectively.
Therefore, the current drawn by lamp 1 is
I1=100220
I1=511 A
Similarly, the current drawn by lamp 2 is
    I2=200220
I2=1011 A
Therefore, the total current drawn by the two lamps is
    I1=I1+I2
I=511+1011
I=1511
I=1.36 A
Hence, the current drawn by two lamps is 0.45 A.
