Given that the two numbers in ratio 5:6 and if we subtract 8 from each number then ratio be 4:5
Let the two numbers be x and y, then.
x y = 5 6 y= 6x 5 (i)   And,
x8 y8 = 4 5 5x4y=8  
On solving above two equations we get
x=40   and y=48  
Therefore, the two numbers are 40 and 48.
Hence, option (4) is correct.
