Given, the two numbers are in the ratio 8:3.
Let the ratio be x.
Then, the first number = 8x
Second number =3x
Now, the sum of the two numbers =8x+3x=11x
It is given that the sum of the two numbers is 143.
So, by equating the obtained sum of the two numbers with the given sum. We get,
⇒11x=143
⇒x=14311
∴x = 13
Thus, the first number =8×13=104
Second number =3×13=39
First number and second number are 104 and 39.
