Let mass of object A is m1 and that of object B be m2.
It is given that m1=2m2
We also know that heights of A and B are 2 h and 5 h respectively.
Acceleration due to gravity for both objects is g.
Mathematically, Potential energy (P) can be expressed as
P=mgh
Where m is the mass of the object, g is the acceleration due to gravity and h is the height of the object.
Thus, the ratio of potential energy PE1:PE2 of given objects is,
2mg(2h)mg(5h)
PE1PE2=45
Hence, the ratio of potential energies is 4:5
