Given that the time taken by both the pipes =1119=1009.
Let's assume that the time taken by one pipe is t1minutes and time taken by other pipe is t2 minutes. Then,
Time taken by one pipe in one minute =1t1.
Since, one pipe takes 5 minutes more than another pipe to fill the tank separately. Then,
t2=t1+5 Time taken by another pipe in one minute will be =1t1+5.
According to question,
The total time taken by both the pipes in one minute will be
1t1+1t1+5=9100
t1+5+t1t1t1+5=9100
2t1+5t12+5t1=9100
1002t1+5=9t12+5t1
200t1+500=9t12+45t1
9t12+200t1-45t1-500=0
9t12+155t1-500=0
9t12-180t1+25t1-500=0
9t1t1-20+25t1-20=0
9t1+25t1-20=0
9t1+25=0 or t1-20=0
 t1=-259 or t1=20
We will choose the value t1=20  because time cannot be negative.
Therefore, one pipe will take 20 min to fill the tank and the other will take 25 min to fill the tank.
Hence, option (1) is correct.
