Two resistances are said to be in series if same value of current flows through them.
When resistors are chained together in a single line, they are said to be connected in series because there is no other way for the current flowing through the first resistor to go; it must also pass through the second, third, and so on. The same current flow through resistors in series because the current that flows through one resistor must also flow through the others because it can only take one path.
