Suppose,

Weight of gold in air = xg,

Weight of silver in air = yg

Density of gold = d1

Density of gold = d2         (where d1 >d2)

Volume of gold = xd1, volume of silver = yd2

Weight of gold in water =Weigh of silver in water

or (x-xd1×1)g = (y-yd2×1)g

or x(1-1d1) = y(1-1d2)

or xy = (1-1d2)(1-1d1)< 1 as d1>d2  x < y or y > x

i.e., weight of silver in air is more than that of gold in air.
