Detailed Solution

Given,

Soap's surface tension is σ

r1=r, r2=2r

A soap bubble has two surfaces because it has two layers (inside and outside).
∴ Surface area of the smaller bubble total is =A1=2×4πr12=8πr2

also the larger bubble's overall surface area = A2=2×4πr22=2×4π(2r)2=32πr2

Hence the net charge is,

A=A2-A1=32πr2-8πr2=24πr2

energy used to increase the bubble's radius

E=σ×ΔA=24πr2σ

Hence the  correct answer is 24πr2σ.
