Under normal conditions, ethene does not show an addition reaction with I₂/CCl₄.

Ethene is an unsaturated hydrocarbon with a double bond, which makes it reactive in many addition reactions. However, the reactivity of ethene depends on the reagent used. For example:

Ethene + Br₂/CCl₄ → 1,2-dibromoethane

Ethene also reacts with hydrogen (H₂) in the presence of a catalyst such as platinum (Pt), forming ethane in a hydrogenation reaction. These are fast and well-known addition reactions.
