Detailed Solution

Concept: The four main blood types (groups) are A, B, AB, and O. The genes you inherit from your parents determine your blood type. There are a total of 8 blood groups, each of which can be either RhD positive or RhD negative.
People with blood group AB contain both A and B antigens on the surface of their RCBs, but neither A nor B antigens are recognised by the blood plasma of these individuals. A person with type AB blood can therefore receive blood from any group (with AB being preferred) , but they are only able to donate blood to other people with type AB blood. They are regarded as all-purpose receivers.
Hence, the correct answer is option (3) .
