Detailed Solution

Kidney failure results in uremia. Hemodialysis is a boon for uremic patients. In a kidney failure patient, RBC production tends to be reduced because kidneys fail to produce enough erythropoietin that stimulates erythropoiesis (production of RBC). Also absorption of calcium ions from the gastrointestinal tract tends to be reduced due to the deficiency of calcitriol. Calcitriol is the active form of vitamin D produced in the kidneys under the influence of parathyroid hormone.
