Detailed Solution

We know that,

𝐸𝑒𝑐𝑙𝑖𝑑’𝑠 π‘Žπ‘™π‘”π‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘–π‘‘β„Žπ‘š, π‘Ž = π‘π‘ž + r where a,b  are two integers and q is a  π‘žπ‘’π‘œπ‘‘π‘–π‘’π‘›π‘‘  and r is a π‘Ÿπ‘’π‘šπ‘Žπ‘–π‘›π‘‘π‘’r

Using this we have to find the  HCF of 240 and 228

β‡’ 240 = 228(1) + 12

β‡’ 228 = 12(19) + 0

Hence HCF of 240 and 228 is 12.
