Vallabhbhai Patel led the peasant movement in Bardoli, Gujarat, in the year 1928. This movement is known as the Bardoli Satyagraha. The Bardoli Satyagraha of 1928 was a movement in the battle for independence for the farmers of Bardoli against the unfair increase of taxes. The British government established the Maxwell-Broomfield commission to look into the situation because they were worried that things would spiral out of control. The land that had been seized from the peasants was given back to them, and the revenue was decreased.
