Detailed Solution

Vande Mataram, a hymn to the motherland, was written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.
This hymn was written in highly Sanskritized Bengali in 1870. It was included in his famous book Anandmath and was published in 1882. Rabindranath Tagore performed the hymn for the first time in 1896 during the Indian National Congress meeting. In 1905, it rose to prominence as a marching hymn for political activism and the Indian independence movement. After the Independence of India on 24 January 1950, the constituent assembly adopted “Vande Mataram” as the national song of India.
