The programs introduced by the government are aimed at either boosting economic growth or increasing employment opportunities. A few schemes are
1)      Food for Work Programme, 2000: It aimed to enhance food security by providing wage employment.
2)      Employment Assurance Scheme, 1993: It provided employment assurance, mainly in drought-prone, desert, tribal and hilly areas.
3)      Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana, 2001: This scheme also aimed to provide wage employment and food security.
4)      National Old Age Pension Scheme, 1995: It provided a pension to people above the age of 60 who don't have any means of subsistence.
