Detailed Solution

Veerasalingam Pantulu formed an association for widow remarriage in Madras. He was born on April 16, 1848, and a supporter of social transformation frequently referred to as Raja Rammohan Roy of Andhra Pradesh, and in Telugu as the founder of the Renaissance movement. Many of his writings reflected his goals and were utilised as weapons against social injustice. In 1876, he started addressing women's issues in his periodical Viveka Vardhini. But as his writings became well-known, he started his publication, Rajahmundry. The speaker cited texts from the Hindu Dharma Shastra to argue against widow remarriage, a taboo at the time.
