Vijayanagar empire is also known as Kingdom of Bisnegar by the Portuguese.
The Vijayanagara Empire, also known as the Karnata Empire and the Kingdom of Bisnegar by the Portuguese, had its capital in South India's Deccan Plateau. The brothers Harihara I and Bukka Raya I of the Sangama Dynasty, founded it in 1336. In the fourteenth century, Hampi served as the Vijayanagara Empire's capital. According to records by Persian and European explorers, particularly the Portuguese, Hampi was a thriving, affluent city with many temples, farms, and trading markets close to the Tungabhadra River. Vijayanagar eventually rose to become the largest empire in southern India.
