from her house foot and the rest she travels

1 km 70 m

on foot and the rest she travels by bus.
The, unlike decimals, should be converted into like decimals before subtracting them.
That is,

5km350m=5 .35km

1km,70m =1 .07km

Distance traveled by bus is found by subtracting the distance covered on foot from the total distance of the school from the house.
Thus,

5.35 0 1.07____4.28

Distance traveled by bus is

4 .28km

1km =1000m

can be written as,
