Coercivity refers to the resistance a material has to changes in magnetization, specifically in ferromagnetic materials.

In materials with low coercivity, external fields—such as nearby electric fields or the Earth's magnetic field—can easily influence the magnet's domains (regions where magnetic moments are aligned). This results in a weakening of the magnet's strength. Magnetic keepers prevent this by maintaining the alignment of the domains and reducing the impact of external magnetic forces.

Magnets with high coercivity, like super magnets, do not require magnetic keepers. These magnets are less sensitive to external magnetic fields, and their magnetic properties are not easily affected by external influences.

In contrast, low coercivity magnets rely on magnetic keepers to maintain their magnetization and ensure long-lasting strength.
