What are major threats to global forest health?

Forests around the world face multiple threats most caused by human activities. The biggest threat is deforestation, which happens when large areas of forest are cleared for agriculture, mining, or urban development. This destroys habitats, reduces biodiversity, and increases carbon emissions.

Climate change is another serious threat. Rising temperatures, irregular rainfall, and extreme weather events make forests more prone to wildfires, pests, and diseases.
