What are silicones ? How are they prepared ?

Silicones : Silicones are the organo silicon polymers containing R2SiO as repeating unit. These are synthetic compounds containing
Si – O – Si linkages.
Linkage preparation : These are formed by the hydrolysis of chlorosilanes.
Eg : MeSiCl₃, Me₂SiCl₂, Me₃SiCl, Me₄Si, (CH₃)₂SiCl₂
Use of Silicones :
1) These are used in surgical and cosmetic plants.
2) These are used in preparation of silicone rubbers.
