The advantages of MCBs over fuses are:
  • Automatically shuts off to save excess electricity.
  • MCB, i.e. miniature circuit breaker, is an automatically operated electrical switch designed to protect electrical appliances and people from electric shocks and malfunctions. MCB is a common safety device.

    • MCB has several advantages over a fuse:
  • MCB is more current sensitive than fuse. It detects any abnormality in the current flow and automatically shuts down the electrical circuit.
  • In case of MCB, the faulty part of the electrical circuit can be easily identified. On the one hand, the faulty circuit will drop to the off position, and on the other hand, in the case of a fuse, the complete fuse wire must be checked by opening the fuse handle to confirm the faulty part.
  • MCB provides better interface with knob than fuse. In the case of a fuse, the complete handle must be taken care of.
  • Restoration of supply using MCB is very simple. Just push the MCB knob back to the on position, but in the case of a fuse, the entire fuse wire needs to be replaced.
