Detailed Solution

The causes of short-sightedness are eye-lens is thicker than normal and eye ball is elongated.
Short-sightedness is also called as myopia. In this defect of vision, a person cannot see objects beyond a certain distance. Far point of a normal person is infinity. But for a myopic person it is shifted from infinity to some finite distance ahead. As a result, image of distant object is formed in front of retina and not on retina as shown in figure1. Therefore, distant objects are not visible. Main causes of myopia are, the eye-lens may be thicker than normal eye and the eye ball may be elongated.
