Detailed Solution

  • Contact Force: When two objects come into contact, a contact force arises. These mutual forces follow Newton's Third Law of Motion. The part of the contact force that acts perpendicular to the surfaces is called the normal reaction, while the component that acts along the surfaces is known as friction.
  • Gravitational Force: Gravitational force is the attraction between any two masses. It is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. This principle forms the basis of the law of universal gravitation.
  • Spring Force: A spring stores energy when stretched or compressed. When displaced from its natural position, it exerts an equal and opposite force on the object applying the force. This spring force tries to restore the spring to its equilibrium position and is widely used in daily life.
  • Force of Tension: Tension force occurs when a material is pulled from one or more ends. It is a pulling force that acts along the length of the object. The load applied must be along the axis of the material for it to be considered a tension force.
