What are the functions of the pulmonary artery

The pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle of the heart to the lungs for oxygenation.

Unlike other arteries, which carry oxygen-rich blood, the pulmonary artery is unique because it carries oxygen-poor blood. It plays a vital role in the pulmonary circulation system, which exchanges gases between the heart and lungs.
