Detailed Solution

In March 2019, the government announced a minimum daily pay of Rs 300 for farm labourers. "The minimal amount of compensation that an employer has to pay wage earners for the job completed during a certain period, which cannot be reduced by collective bargaining or an individual contract" is how minimum wages have been defined. A minimum wage can be established by law, a competent authority's judgement, a wage board, a wage council, or by labour or industrial courts or tribunals. By making the terms of collective agreements enforceable by law, minimum salaries can also be determined.
