The numbers of the French (49%) and the Dutch (51%) linguistic groups are almost 1: 1 i,e; 50-50. The Constitution of Belgium provides that the number of people in Belgium will belong in equal numbers from both the linguistic groups, i.e., French and Dutch. About 59% of people in Belgium belong to the Dutch-speaking community, and the rest, 41%, belong to the French-speaking community. Belgium does not want to favour any particular community while ignoring the other. So, the constitution was amended several times to ensure the proper inclusion of all communities. Now, it provides good equal representation to both groups in the Belgium Parliament.
