6% of total valid votes in assembly in four states, 4 seats in Lok Sabha are the requirements to become a “National Party”.
 In India, there are two different kinds of political parties. One is the National party, and the other is the State party. For a party to acquire the status of a national party, the following requirements are needed:
1)      It must achieve 6% of the total valid votes polled in the elections for the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament, and additionally, wins 4 Lok Sabha seats from any state or state.
2)      Or, the party must be recognised as a state party in at least four states.
3)      Or, the party wins 2% of Lok Sabha seats from at least three states.
