Detailed Solution

Tribes are societies that do not follow social or ritual rules prescribed by Brahmanas.
Societies in most parts of the Indian subcontinent followed varna and other Brahmanical rules.
But the tribal societies did not follow the social and ritualistic rules prescribed by the Brahmanas. Unequal division of classes was also absent in these societies. Kinship bonds kept the tribal societies united. Some tribal societies lived in agriculture, while others were hunter-gatherers or herders. Nomadic tribes traveled from place to place in caravans. Sometimes they combine these activities to extract the full potential of natural resources in the area. Tribes sometimes clashed with caste-based societies to keep their freedom and culture preserved.
