What are the stages from frog egg to adult frog?

A frog’s life cycle includes several stages: egg, tadpole, metamorphosis, and adult. It begins when the female lays eggs in water, and the male fertilizes them externally. Each egg contains a developing embryo surrounded by protective jelly. 

After a few days, the embryo hatches into a tadpole, a larval form that breathes through gills and feeds on algae. The tadpole stage lasts several weeks, during which it grows rapidly and develops a long tail for swimming. As metamorphosis begins, the tadpole’s body changes dramatically: legs appear, lungs develop, and the tail gradually shortens. 

The digestive system transforms to support a carnivorous diet instead of a herbivorous one. Once the lungs are functional, the young frog starts breathing air and leaves the water. Finally, the tail disappears, and it becomes a fully grown adult frog capable of reproduction. This transformation from a water-breathing larva to a land-dwelling amphibian shows the adaptability and complexity of amphibian life.
