Detailed Solution

The two houses of the Parliament in India are known as the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) and the House of the People (Lok Sabha). The Rajya Sabha is the upper house of the Parliament. Its chairman is the Vice President of India. It comprises members indirectly elected by the elected members of State Legislative Assemblies. The tenure of each member of the Rajya Sabha is six years. This house looks after the interests of states and federal units. The House of People, or the Lok Sabha, is the lower chamber or house of the Parliament. The Speaker heads it. The people directly elect members of the Lok Sabha. This is why the Lok Sabha exercises more power than Rajya Sabha. Its tenure is five years, after which it dissolves, and a new Lok Sabha is elected. The Parliament is the legislative body of the government.
