Detailed Solution

  •  Distillation is the process that consists of two processes that are vapourization and condensation.
  • Vaporization: In distillation, a liquid mixture is heated to convert it into vapor. This process is known as vaporization or evaporation. The heat is applied to the mixture until it reaches its boiling point, at which point the liquid turns into a vapor.
  • Condensation: After vaporization, the vapor is cooled and converted back into a liquid. This process is known as condensation. The condensed liquid is collected in a separate container from the original mixture.
  • The separation of the components of the original mixture is achieved by taking advantage of their different boiling points.
  • The component with the lowest boiling point will vaporize first, while the component with the highest boiling point will remain in the original container as a liquid.
