What are the ways to treat infectious disease?

There are two methods to treat an infectious disease.

1. To reduce the effect of the disease-causing pathogen. The patient should take proper rest to conserve energy and allow the body to fight the disease. Medicines that control fever and pain can be administered.
2. To kill the cause of the disease: A proper treatment protocol including the correct usage of drugs will help to eliminate the pathogens from the body.

Thus, by killing or reducing the effect of the pathogen we can treat an infectious disease.
