What are Villi?

The villi are finger-like projections in the small intestine that increase the surface area available for nutrient absorption from digested food. 

They are composed of a network of blood vessels that are covered in tiny, brush-like structures known as microvilli, which increase the surface area for absorption. 

The villi and microvilli collaborate to improve the ability of the small intestine to absorb nutrients, allowing the body to get the most energy and nutrients from the food we eat.
