Detailed Solution

Primary Education became compulsory from the late nineteenth century for children. With the emergence of the printing press and books being available very easily, they were soon employed in the educational space. Books for children became a necessity because primary education became mandatory for all children in the 19th century. Another fact which demonstrates the increasing presence of children’s reading resources was that in 1857, France established a children's press dedicated solely to children's literature. New works as well as traditional fairy tales and folk stories were published by this press. As a result, children became an important demographic towards whom reading materials like textbooks and story books were released for.
