Detailed Solution

Changes after the Revolt of 1857 included- India coming under the direct rule of the Crown as a colony, European troops being increased in the Army, and Indian soldiers not being given any higher posts.
According to the Government of India Act of 1858, the Crown had the authority to rule India through the Secretary of State, who answered the British Parliament. Management was decentralised to help the government solve its financial challenges brought on by over-centralisation, and authority was granted to local authorities like municipalities and district boards. European soldiers made up a larger share of the military. After 1857, a policy was followed where no important positions were given to Indian soldiers.
