Potential difference (V)= 220 V
Lamp 1 power (P1) = 100 W
Lamp 2 power (P2) = 60 W
As both the bulbs are connected in parallel. So, there is no voltage division in a parallel circuit, the potential difference across each of them will be 220 V. Now power is defined as,
P= V I   [P=Power]; I= current flowing]
= PV   ………………. (i)
Lamp 1:
I1 = P1V   [I1= current flowing across Lamp 1]
I1 = 100220
I1 = 511 A  ……………….. (ii)
Lamp 2:
I2 = P2V   [I2= current flowing across Lamp 2]
I2 = 60220
I2 = 311 A   ………………… (iii)
Net current (I) = I1 + I2  ……………….. (iv)
Put values of equation (ii) and (iii) in (iv) we gat,
= 511 + 311
= 811
