What did Charles Darwin explain in his book "The descent of man"?

Charles Darwin in his book, "The descent of man" explained the ancestry of man and how the transformation of man took place and evolved through the years. He discussed the gradual changes that occurred with time to shape the human form that exists today. 

He also mentions how different races evolved and spread over the globe in the due course of human evolution.
