Deodar woods are those where Cedrus deodara, often known as Deodar Cedars, predominates. Cedrus deodar, an Indian tree species also referred to as pine forests In snow-covered parts of India like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Sikkim as well as Arunachal Pradesh deodar trees are found. Moreover, in the Darjeeling areas of West Bengal, the southwestern part of Tibet, as well as western Nepal in India, deodar forests are extensively distributed. They grow slowly, gaining 1-2 feet each year to reach a height of 40-50 feet, while they can rise as tall as 150 feet in their natural habitat.
