The term Lakh-Baksh means "giver of lakhs". Qutbuddin Aibak established the Delhi Sultanate. Being a slave himself, the dynasty he established came to be known as the Mamluk or the Slave dynasty. He expanded the empire to many parts of Northern India. He is known for constructing mosques in Delhi and other cities. He was renowned for being a kind king and was given the title of Lakh Baksh, or giver of lakhs. He is best known for laying the Qutub Minar's foundation in Delhi.
