Inherited traits are traits that are passed on from parents to children through genes. It is studied in the science of genetics. It explains how our behavioural traits and other traits are similar to our family and parents. It explains why our laugh could be like our uncles, our nose or hair like our grandmother, or our height and other physical features could resemble our father. Gregor Mendel is known as the father of genetics and it is he who studies genetics for the very first time. Genes are the basis for all the similarities in our bodies with our family members. These similarities help in establishing a close sense of belonging with our family members.
