Detailed Solution

The literal meaning of Dakshinapatha is the route leading to the south. The lord of the Dakshinapatha was of the Satavahanas. The Dakshinapath contained twelve kingdoms of the south. The Satavahanas were called the lord of the Dakshinapatha because they often controlled the route to the southern region. The word Dakshinapatha comprises two words, Dakshina and Path. Dakshina means south, and path means road, thus meaning route leading to the south. The capital of Dakshinapatha was Suvarnagari. This Dakshinapatha also refers to Samudragupta's military expedition towards the south to defeat a few south Indian kingdoms, which he succeeded in doing but also returned the conquered territories to their respective kings.
