NDA stands for National Democratic Alliance.
NDA is a coalition formed by the alliance of many regional parties and is led by the Bharatiya Janata Party. NDA came into existence in 1998 when there was no single party which had secured a majority on its own to form the government. NDA was formed with Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the chairperson. Currently, Amit Shah is the chairperson of the National Democratic Alliance. NDA is the current ruling party at the centre. In the last general elections held in 2019, NDA secured 353 seats out of the total 543 seats in the Lok Sabha.
