Detailed Solution

The German Parliament is known as the Reichstag. It is located in Berlin, Germany's capital city. On February 27, 1933, the Reichstag caught fire under strange circumstances. This event is thought to have been planned by the Nazis so that Adolf Hitler could intensify his state security activities. Unfortunately, airstrikes during World War II completely destroyed the Reichstag. However, the renovation of the Reichstag was first ordered following the unification of Germany in 1990, and it was finally finished in 1999 under the direction of British architect Norman Foster.
