Detailed Solution

The term "Harijan" means children of God (Hari). Gandhiji left all his work and went on a country-wide reform movement to educate and sympathise with the Harijans. However, its use comes at the expense of annoying a social group known as "untouchables," to whom it is said to have historically been attributed or as a result of legal action. A large group of people, still considered "untouchables" by the "touchable" of various religious dispensations, find this term extremely stigmatising. At the same time, a few Gandhi interpreters believe it is laced with moral violence.
