The word Adivasi means "original inhabitants,". They are communities that have lived and frequently continue to live near forests. Adivasis are concentrated in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, etc. Around 8% of India's population is Adivasi, and several of the country's major mining and industrial centres are in Adivasi districts, including Jamshedpur, Rourkela, Bokaro, and Bhilai.
