Detailed Solution

Rashtrakuta, in the Sanskrit language, means 'Country' and 'Chieftain'. This information dates back to the reign of the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka in the third century BCE. They were known as small clan heads in various parts of India at that time. The word Rathika appears in some of Ashoka's edicts, such as Mansera, Dhavali, Girna, and others, and may have been the ancestors of the Rashtrakutas. Although many historians claim and believe that the Rashtrakuta were the earlier Rathikas, as evidenced by writings in those inscriptions, archaeologists have not found much evidence to support this claim.
