The Spartacist League was the German uprising that was modelled after the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. From 1914 to 1918, there was a revolutionary socialist organisation called the Spartacus League. The uprising was basically a power struggle between the Communist Party of Germany, which aimed to establish a council republic similar to the one established by the Bolsheviks in Russia, and the Social Democratic Party of Germany, which backed social democracy. The revolutionary uprising of the Spartacist League occurred concurrently with the founding of the Weimar Republic.
