When Nehru went to Telugu-speaking districts of Madras presidency, he was met with slogans and black flags. There was a crisis and civil disorder in the province of Madras regarding its formation as people demanded the states to be formed based on language i.e, separate Tamil and Telugu speaking regions. So it was only impossible for Nehru to be warmly welcomed by the people when he went there about the same issue but with a different view. Finally, there was a division of Madras region brought about in 1953.
